Israel Minister Simcha Pratt was given a farewell reception yesterday by the leaders of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies and the Zionist Federation, prior to his departure for New York to join the Israel delegation at the United Nations General Assembly.
Mr. Pratt lauded the South African Jewish community, declaring that he had not found a more deeply conscious Jewish community anywhere in the Diaspora. Legation Counsellor Azriel Harel will take over as charge d’affaires in Mr. Pratt’s absence.
