Over 2,500 Jews of Johannesburg gathered last night of the Orpheum theatre to express their indignation with regard to the new policy of the English government toward the Jewish interests in Palestine.
The anti-British meeting in the Orpheum Theatre took place under the chairmanship of M. Raphaely, the president of the Board of Jewish Deputies of South Africa. In a resolution which the meeting adopted it was emphasized that the new attitude of the British Government will not discourage the Jewish people to continue its work in order to realize the Zionist’s ideal in Palestine.
The South African Sunday Times criticizing the White Paper says that the recommendations made by Simpson in his report to the British Government will have a contrary effect than that which Simpson hoped for.
Protest meetings against the new British policy in Palestine were also held last night all over the country.
