The world-wide problem of Jewish education has come to the fore in the Jewish community of South Africa.

A public meeting was called by the South African Jewish Board of Deputies to discuss the question of the Jewish education of the young and to decide on the amalgamation of the Talmud Torahs of Johannesburg. A resolution was unanimously adopted, approving the amalgamation and pledging them support. S. Raphaely acting president of the Board, was chairman of the meeting.

The Chief Rabbi said that the problem was the most vital question facing Jewry in South Africa.
