South African police forced 50 Israelis to leave a Palestinian news conference at a U.N. summit after the Israelis shouted down the wife of jailed militia leader Marwan Barghouti. The fracas in Johannesburg erupted after Fadwa Barghouti accused Israel of torturing her husband — and after Barghouti’s lawyer accused Israel of torturing 230 Palestinian children. The incident came on the first day of the U.N.-sponsored summit on the environment and economic development. Earlier, Pro- Palestinian and pro-Israeli activists verbally clashe at the summit.
