Many German Jewish refugees may find a home in South American countries, it was reported here at a private conference of Jewish leaders by Anthony de Rothschild who is interested in raising funds for German Jews.
Mr. Rothschild disclosed that he has received a cable from James G. McDonald, the League of Nations High Commissioner for Jewish and Other Refugees from Germany, who is now in Brazil, stating that there are good possibilities for settling German Jewish refugees in Brazil and other parts of South America.
“The shortage of funds should not stand in the way of sending German Jewish refugees to South American countries,” Mr. Rothschild stated.
Mr. McDonald is successfully continuing his negotiations with South American governments for admitting Jewish exiles from Germany into their countries, Mr. de Rothschild assured the Anglo-Jewish leaders at the conference.
