Temple Beth El, South Bend’s only reform congregation, celebrated its 25th anniversary recently, with Dr. Abraham Cronbach, first rabbi of the temple when it was organized in 1905, as the principal speaker. Max Adler, president of the congregation, spoke about the early years of the temple, and recalled that it was founded by a group of 25 at a time when South Bend had only one other congregation, the Sons of Israel.
