Foreign Minister Golda Meir tendered today a farewell dinner to Soviet Ambassador Alexander Abramov who has completed his tour of duty in Israel and is leaving for home. Mr. Abramov’s successor has already been named, it was learned.
The Ambassador came to Israel in 1953 when the USSR resumed diplomatic relations with the Jewish State after an eight-month break which followed a hand grenade explosion in the Soviet Embassy garden. Present at the dinner tonight were senior Foreign Ministry officials and Mrs. Vera Weizmann, widow of the first President of Israel.
