The central office of the Socialist Unity (Communist) Party in East Berlin has been asked by Soviet authorities to supply information on the number of Jews holding office in the party, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency has learned.
For some time the Russian authorities have made it a point not to give any administrative posts to Jews in East Berlin. The Russians have publicly announced that 60 percent of the officers and men in their forces who asked for political asylum in the Western zones were Jews.
