Two thousand persons, including spokesmen for leading Jewish organizations and institutions, gathered here tonight at a farewell dinner at the Hotel Commodore for Prof. Solomon Mikhoels and Lieut.-Col. Itzik Feffer, the Jewish delegation from the Soviet Union who have been touring the Jewish communities of the country for the past three months. The Russian delegates are leaving for England where they will spend some time before returning to the U.S.S.R.
A resolution pledging assistance to the Red Army and expressing appreciation for the Soviet Union’s efforts in helping to save 1,500,000 Jews from the Nazis was adopted at the dinner. Among the speakers were Rabbi Israel Goldstein, James N. Rosenberg, Dr. Nahum Goldmann and other Jewish leaders.
