There are now 221 Jewish schools in White Russia maintained entirely by the Soviet government, according to official figures made public today. These schools are attended by 35,378 pupils.
A repeort of the Commissariat of Education in White Russia, bringing out these figures, emphasizes that it becomes more and more difficult to find Jewish teachers, because the curriculum in the teachers’ seminaries is conducted entirely in the Russian or White Russian language. The Jewish section of the Pedagogical Institute of Minsk, also suffers from a lack of Jewish instructors, the report discloses.
