Further cases of anti-Semitic mistreatment accorded Jewish workers by their Communist comrades are related in the Moscow press.
A case similar to the recent Kaufman case is related by the “Vechernaja Moskva.” The Jewish family Kovarnovsky were systematically baited by their neighbors. The young hooligans threatened the family with violence. On October 20, Kovarovsky’s wife was beaten by the hooligans, the paper reports.
The “Komsomolskaya Pravda” cites cases of anti-Semitism in the coal regions. The Jewish miners were insulted by their comrades, and were mines in the Altchevsk and Kalievki compelled to descend into the shaft in the elevator separately. Members of the Comsomol, Communist youth organization, joined in the Jew baiting.
In the Kadievsk chemical factory a Jewish worker was killed. A Chinese worker, who shielded the murderer, was not apprehended by the police. A Jewish girl, Miss Barshay, was cruelly mistreated by her fellow workers in the Moscow glass factory. Her clothing was stripped from her and cold water was thrown on her. Members of the Comsomel participated in this attack. when she complained to the higher authorities, her complaint went unanswered.
