Representatives of the Spanish Government, the United States Embassy in Madrid and the United States Sixth Fleet attended the first public Rosh Hashanah services celebrated by Spanish Jews in many years.
The services were conducted at the New Castellana Hotel here by Rabbi Jeshurun Cardozo of New York. Jews from a number of other Spanish cities journeyed to the capital to attend the services.
