Speaking at the 39th annual meeting of the Jewish Seaside Home here, Rabbi William Fineshriber, rabbi of Keneseth Israel Temple, Philadelphia, characterized Dr. Lee K. Frankel, who was active in the congregation as a young man as “the outstanding Jewish layman in this country.”

Rabbi Fineshriber said: “Dr. Frankel never was a professional Jew. He was a simple, reassuring, talented man, one of the greatest humanitarians in this country. It is hard to lose a man of this kind. American Jewry will miss him.”

Joseph Hagedorn, president of Keneseth Israel Temple and a life-long friend of Dr. Frankel, told of his early days in Philadelphia and of his last visit to attend the annual meeting of the American Philosophical Society in whose deliberations he took a leading part.
