The special session of the General Assembly on the massacre in Beirut, which is scheduled to open here tomorrow, will seek the establishment of an international panel to investigate the tragedy, sources said today. But, they added, Israel is expected to be condemned for sharing responsibility for the massacre.
The special session which is convening at the request of the non-aligned group at the UN will take place simultaneously with the regular session of the Assembly which opened here Tuesday.
The convening of the special session tomorrow was announced last night by Imre Hollai of Hungary, the newly elected president of the 37th General Assembly. Hollai succeeded Ismat Kittani of Iraq. Unlike Kittani, who refused to meet Israeli Ambassador Yehuda Blum, in violation of UN rules, Hollai told reporters he would see any Ambassador that requests a meeting in his capacity as Assembly president.
