A bill providing for a “one-time tax” of twenty percent to be imposed on Jewish property was introduced in the Bulgarian parliament by the Minister of Finance, it is reported in the German papers reaching Lisbon. A second bill proposes the confiscation of all land belonging to Jews in favor of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Simultaneously the Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture issued an order prohibiting Schechitah. The order stipulates also that Jews must buy their meat from non-Jewish butchers.
