Jewish men and women figured prominently in commencement exercises in and near San Francisco this week.
At the commencement exercises held at Mills College, Albert M. Bender, San Francisco philanthropist and patron of arts, received the degree of doctor of literature. He is a trustee of the college.
Among gifts announced at commencement exercises at Stanford University was that of $7,000 to establish the Louis and Sarah Sloss scholarship fund. The gift is from the families of Bella S. Lilienthal, Leon Sloss and Louis Sloss.
