State Department Confirms Report of Palestine Survey for U.S.

The Department of Commerce today, in response to an inquiry by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency correspondent, contirrned the report that James Hodgson has been assigned to make a survey of the commercial possibilities of Palestine, and also indicated that he will remain in Palestine until the Fall to complete this survey.

Dr. Julius Klein, the Director of the Bureau of Foreign and Domestic Commerce of the Commerce Department, will meet Mr. Hodgson in Europe in June, at which time he will confer with the latter regarding the scope and form of the survey. It is understood that the survey will be of a comprehensive character.

Mr. Hodgson became commercial attache at Cairo, from which he was assigned to his present special work, only last January. Prior to this he was stationed at Warsaw and Prague. He entered the foreign commerce service of the United States in 1923.
