State Department officials said yesterday they were unaware of any imminent move to resume diplomatic relations with Egypt, broken during the Six-Day War. This comment followed a report in the Beirut newspaper Al Anwar that said President Nasser will resume relations with Washington on Feb. 15. While officials considered the Beirut report a possible “trial balloon” to test the response of the new Administration, it was admitted that President Nixon and his advisers were interested in stabilizing the Middle East. The resumption of diplomatic ties was not ruled out.
