A $25,000 grant from the United States State Department will help underwrite a Brandeis University program that is giving students from seven American colleges and universities a firsthand knowledge of Israel, it was announced here today.
The federal grant was made available in counterpart funds to the university’s Jacob Hiatt Institute in Israel, inaugurated last year for the study of that country’s political, social and historical institutions. The Institute, whose 1961 class consisted of 13 Brandeis students, was opened in Jerusalem this year to eligible junior students from all of the nation’s colleges and universities. The present class consists of 20 students from various American universities.
