The State Department has notified German refugees in the United States that they are free to return to the American zone in Germany if they so desire and can meet certain specific conditions. The Department worked out an agreement with the War Department on the problem two weeks ago.
Those allowed to return must have been born in Germany, be able to pay their travel expenses, have abilities which will enable them to earn a living, have been residents of the American zone and been opponents of Nazism. The Department specifically informs applicants that they are to expect no more consideration from the American Military Government than other Germans.
