A State Department spokesman confirmed today that the United States Government has received an “interim report” on the death of Charles H. Jordan, Joint Distribution Committee official, who died under mysterious circumstances in Prague, last August.
The spokesman said the report by the Czechoslovakian Government was not final. It was indicated that the Czechoslovaks regard the matter as still under investigation and have not closed the books.
The exact circumstances of Mr. Jordan’s death remained unclear and no new information of any consequence was found in the interim report, State Department sources said.
Mr. Jordan, 59 years old at his death, served as executive vice-chairman of the American Joint Distribution Committee.
