The State of Italy today observed an official day of mourning in memory of Israel President Weizmann who was this afternoon buried at Rehovoth.
Premier Alcide de Gasperi, in a cable to Premier David Ben Gurion, offered his personal condolences and those of the Italian Government over the death of President Weizmann. Yesterday, Italian President Luigi Einaudi cabled Joseph Spimzak, Acting President of Israel, that “the sorrowful news of the death of your illustrious President deeply affects the Italian people, who join me in the mourning of the nation of Israel.”
