Addressing the Illinois state conference of the United Jewish Appeal here last night, Sen. Sen. Rubert N. Rumphrey of Minnesota called on the 200 delegates representing 15 communities to make themselves “minute men for freedom” in their own communities, and to make an investment for freedom in Israel, “a nation which is an cuter fortress for freedom.”

Gov. Adlai Stevenson of Illinois, who addressed the meeting, hailed the U.J.A. as “the greatest humanitarian undertaking privately financed in the whole world.”
