A drama of life in Russia during the Bolshevik revolution from the pen of a Jewish author is holding the attention of German theatregoers in various parts of the country.
The drama. “Der Dornenweg.” scenes of the Russian revolution, by M. Lewadim was awarded a prize by the Goethe Bund and was produced first in Bremen, then in Hamburg and Berlin. Following the opening at Bremen, the Goethe Bund and the Bremer Shauspielhaus gave a banquet in honor of the author.
M. Lewadim is the nom de plume of Dr. J. N. Steinberg, well known Russian Jewish publicist, a nephew of the late Jewish critic, Baal Machshovoth (Dr. Eliaschew). Dr. Steinberg took leading part in the Russian Revolutionary Party. After the Russian revolution he held the position of Minister of Justice.
In Berlin, where he now lives, he edits a journal “Freie Blaetter,” devoted to a discussion of Jewish socialist problems.
The play is highly praised by the German Press.
