Nathan Friedman-Yellin, Stern Group chief who now calls himself Nathan Mor, will stand trial in an Israeli military court early next month along with Matatiahu Schmulevitz, his military aide, on charges of running an organization defined as illegal and terrorist by the government, forging military release documents and possessing unlicensed arms, it was announced today at a press conference by the Army Attorney-General Hotter Ishai.
Two Israeli detention camps in Acre and Sheikh Munis now hold a total of 170 Sternists, following the release of 48 detainees. Some of those held in the Acre camp have refused to be interrogated. They say they are waiting the outcome of their attorneys’ appeal to the Israeli Supreme Court questioning the legality of the government’s anti-terrorism Emergency Defense Regulations.
