Max D. Steuer, one of the country’s outstanding criminal lawyers, a former president of the American Jewish Congress and lately active in philanthropic and refugee work, died here yesterday of a heart attack while vacationing at the Hotel Wentworth Hall. He was 68.
Funeral services for the Jewish lawyer will be held at Temple Emanu-E1 in New York City. He is survived by his wife, the former Bertha Popkin, and a son, Justice Aron Steuer of the New York Supreme Court.
