Representatives of the New York Board of Jewish Ministers met Friday in the study of Rabbi Dr. Sidney E. Goldstein at Free Synagogue House to set forth a program which will be presented to the Interfaith Committee of Protestants, Jews, Catholics on Monday, when further action will be taken against “indecent” movies.
It was unanimously agreed that all Jewish groups, the synagogues, men’s and women’s organizations, will be asked to take part in the campaign for clean motion picture entertainment.
It is expected that the Jewish drive for clean films will come to a climax during the High Holy Days in September. A joint board will be created to govern popular reaction toward the brand of films now being produced.
Following Friday’s conference Dr. Goldstein declared, “If the motion picture industry will not accept our plan they will have to accept something very much worse—government censorship.”
