The 11th Student Zionist Organization national convention, attended by about 300 college student delegates from 125 campuses in the United States and Canada, opened tonight at Camp Hadar here, Avraham Harman, Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, gave the opening address.
Included among many greetings from state and local officials was one from U. S. Senator Jacob K. Javits, New York Republican, who cited the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as offering an opportunity for all Americans to go a long way toward wiping out bigotry and racial discrimination. “As Jews,” he wrote, “we know that the security of the Jewish community is as great as the security of any other minority group in America, and that the denial of liberty of one American is a threat to the liberty of all.”
