A study to evaluate the entire program of the National Conference of Christians and Jews will be undertaken under the chairmanship of Charles E. Wilson, former president of the General Electric Company, and Col. Harold Riegelman, member of the administrative committee of the American Jewish Committee, it was announced today.
The announcement said that the survey would study the objectives, financing, structure and personnel of the Conference. It would also provide for “an across the board diagnosis of the total operation with a view of getting a clearer basis on which to project the future.”
The Conference was organized in 1928 to promote understanding and cooperation among Protestants, Catholics and Jews. Under its by-laws, the organization aims to eliminate intergroup prejudices and to work toward the establishment of a social order in which “the religious ideals of brotherhood and justice shall become the standards of human relationships.” The work of the Conference is wholly supported by voluntary contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations and fraternal organizations.
