Supreme Council of B’nai B’rith Women Concludes Three-day Annual Meeting

The Supreme Council of the B’nai B’rith Women today concluded a three-day annual meeting here after adopting decisions to increase assistance to refugee children maintained in homes in London and Palestine and to establish scholarships for young people wishing to take courses in Jewish life in Jewish schools. The Council also voted to lend full support to the U.J.A. drive.

It was revealed at the conference that during 1946, B’nai B’rith Women contributed some $625,000 toward assisting youth projects, defense work, philanthropies and overseas aid. Mrs. Abram Orlow of Philadelphia was elected to succeed Mrs. Ida Cook Farber of New York as national president of the organization, which has a membership of 92,000. The membership rolls increased 25,000 last year.
