U.S. Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas will deliver the main address at the dinner session of the 44th Annual National Conference of the American ORT Federation next Sunday, it was announced here today by Dr. William Haber, president of the organization. More than 500 delegates representing 90,000 ORT members throughout the country are expected to attend the conference.
ORT, the Organization for Rehabilitation through Training, is the Jewish overseas agency for vocational training and economic aid. It operates more than 600 technical education projects in 21 countries. Joining Justice Fortas at the conference dinner will be Rabbi Herbert A. Friedman, executive vice-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, and Max A. Braude, who will be honored for ten years of service as Director General of international ORT programs. Dr. Meyer Cohen, Director of the Bureau of Operations of the United Nations Development Fund, will speak at a meeting of the organization’s Board of Directors scheduled for earlier in the day.
