Supreme Court Justice Haim Cohen was quoted in the local press today as standing firm on the remarks he made at the American-Israel Dialogue last June, in which he linked application of Jewish religious law in determining Jewishness in Israel with the Nazi racist Nuremberg laws. He told newsmen that, while he regretted that “certain expressions” had created the “mistaken view” that he meant to smear the Jewish religion, he saw no reason to retract any of his remarks. An Agudat Israel spokesman disclosed that attorneys were examining the possibility of litigation against the Justice for his remarks.
