Survivors marked Holocaust Remembrance Day in New York with comparisons between the Nazi genocide of Jews and reports of ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. “Ethnic cleansing, genocide, is happening as I speak,” the president of the American Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors, Benjamin Meed, said at a ceremony Sunday attended by thousands in Manhattan’s Temple Emanu-El. “It can happen to anyone, to any group of people. The slaughter of Kosovo and in other places must be brought to an end.”
