Swiss Federal authorities today overruled the action of police at Schaffhausen who had turned back at the border a Jewish women with papers in good order who sought entry for medical treatment. police were ordered henceforth to admit old people with documents in good order wanting a cure in Switzerland, regardless of race.
The Jewess, who is 63 years old and came from Breslau Monday with a letter of credit from the German authorities for 700 Swiss francs, seeking to go to a nursing home in Lugano, was sent back despite a Swiss physician’s statement that she was in need of treatment. The Swiss authorities have now declared that the refusal of admission was due to a mistake of a subordinate and have granted her a stay.
