Switzerland’s central bank knew it was financing the Nazi war effort through its gold and trade deals, according to a magazine report. Newsweek cites an as- of- yet unreleased report by the Swiss commission looking into the activities of Swiss banks during World War II. The Swiss National Bank has refused to offer restitution to Jews, despite the fact that it received the majority of Nazi gold. Three other Swiss banks are currently negotiating a settlement with Jewish groups after a U.S. lawsuit was filed on behalf of Holocaust survivors seeking restitution.
