Synagogue Awards Annual Prizes to Congregation Members

Rabbi Philip Goodman and Abraham Bernstein, executive directors of the Institutional Synagogue, 37-43 West 116th street, distributed a number of prizes awarded annually for various activities of the congregation’s members.

Moe Greengraft, winner in the Jewish Essay Contest, received a silver medal. In the Shabuoth question contest J. M. Goldstein, the winner, was given a copy of “Bible Comment for Home Reading,” by Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein, spiritual leader of the synagogue.

Dr. Irving Lubowe was the recipient of a gold medal “for distinguished medical service.” The Acme Girls Club won a plaque for winning the one-act play contest in which honorable mention went to the Tranquility Club and the Sennipahs Club. The Versatiles received a plaque for capturing the basketball championship.

Speakers included Rabbi Goldstein and former Congressman Isaac Siegel, president of the congregation.
