Synagogue Council Backs Milwaukee Civil Rights Leaders’ Open Housing Bid

The Synagogue Council of America came out today in support of civil rights leaders in Milwaukee seeking enactment by the city of effective open housing legislation. A special meeting of its executive committee unanimously endorsed their stand, commended them for maintaining the “integrated character of their campaign and called on the Mayor. Common Council and citizens of Milwaukee “to implement the moral imperative of the hour by enacting open housing legislation.”

The Synagogue Council of America is the national coordinating agency for the rabbinic and congregational bodies of Conservative, Orthodox and Reform Judaism in the United States.
