The Synagogue Council of America announced today that it has designated Saturday, Nov. 5, as a nationwide day of prayer in behalf of the “persecuted Jewish community” in Iraq.
Dr. Bernard Bamberger, Council president, said that “more than 2,000 rabbis throughout the country will invoke God’s help to protect 130,000 people representing one of the most ancient and devout Jewish communities in the world. We are sure that such a prayer will find an echo in the hearts of American Jewry and the American people,” he added.
