A synagogue at Praetoria was today dedicated as a national war memorial to the Jewish men and women of South Africa’s armed forces who died in the two World Wars. Services at the dedication ceremony were conducted by British Chief Rabbi Israel Brodie, who is currently visiting the Union.
Dr. Brodie spoke of his experiences with the Union troops whom he met during the last war when he served as a chaplain with British Empire forces in the Middle East. The services were sponsored by the Jewish Veterans League and the Board of Deputies of South African Jews.
