The Hebrew Congregation of St. Thomas celebrated the 30th anniversary of Rabbi Mosed de Castro Sasso’s service in the pulpit at a special religions meeting attended by Jewish residents in the Virgin Islands and by Rabbi Nathan Witkin, field representative of the National Jewish Welfare Board in the Caribbean area.
Organized in 1796, the Hebrew Congregation has used its present synagogue since 1833. Rabbi Sasso is a descendent of one of the oldest Jewish families in the Virgin Islands.
