Synagogue members in the Boston area are taking a leading role in a campaign to provide health care for the state’s uninsured. Tens of thousands of signatures have been collected for the Health Access and Affordability Act, which would cover an estimated 80 percent of those in the state who are currently uninsured, estimated at more than 500,000 adults and children, according to John McDonough, director of Health Care for All, which is promoting the legislation.
