The explosion of an ammunition dump near the Damascus Gate to the Old City of Jerusalem was postponed indefinitely yesterday by the Israeli authorities because it was feared that the blast might damage the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, which is located nearby.
The blasting operation was to be carried out by the Israelis with the permission of United Nations truce supervision headquarters. Transjordan has disassociated itself from the operation. Meanwhile, all persons have been evacuated from an area over a quarter of a mile in radius from the location of the cache.
