The Damascus newspaper “Anaser” today carried an unconfirmed report that the ex-Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin Al Husseini, was now living at the house of Shukri Kowatly, President of the Republic of Syria, at Zebedani, near Bludan. The President will approach persons in touch with the British for the Mufti’s liberation, the report said.
(A report from Cairo to the New York Times says that it has been established that the ex-Mufti landed at a U.S. Army airfield there with a Syrian passport bearing the name Marcus Doubalibi. He was one of twenty-seven passengers who arrived on the plane, and disappeared as soon as he was checked through by the immigration officials.)
