Syrian students rioted in Damascus today demanding the closing of the United States Information Center in the Syrian capital because the center’s library possesses a music book which includes a copy of “hatikvah,” the Israeli national anthem, it was reported here today from Damascus.
The dispatch said that a student delegation called on interior Minister Ali Buzo to voice the protest. It is thought likely the Minister will intervene with United States officials to remove “Hatikvah” from any printed material brought into Syria.
