An Israel Army spokesman charged today that Syrian military forces opened mortar and machine gun fire tonight at a bridge and Hulata village near the Galilee area where Mrs. Kenneth Doran, wife of a British Embassy attache, was slain earlier this week. There was no mention of Israeli casualties.
Israel today lodged the strongest complaint with the Israel-Syrian Mixed Armistice Commission over the slaying of Mrs. Doran. A search party found the body of the 40 year old woman 150 yards from the Israel-Syrian border, near the southern end of Lake Tiberias, killed by four submachine gun bullets fired from close range.
A mine was found today in an Israeli field lying along the Israel-Syrian border north of Lake Huleh. It was discovered by a farmer ploughing the land, part of a tract whose ownership the Syrians had disputed two years ago.
Dismantled in the presence of United Nations observers, the landmine was found to be of a plastic variety manufactured in Egypt under license from an Italian manufacturer. The explosive was cached within the last two weeks.
Moshe Dayan, former Chief of Staff of the Israel Army, was injured in an automobile accident near Nathan ya today. He was hospitalized. His injuries were reportedly minor.
