In connection with the impending formal announcement of the five-man Royal Commission to investigate Palestine condition, there was revived talk today that immigration to the Holy Land might be stopped during the commission’s deliberations.
Zionist leaders are fighting with all the resources at their command to prevent such a development.
The Jewish Agency executive denies as “absolutely without foundation” rumors from Arab sources that Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, has agreed to stoppage of immigration during the commission’s sessions.
According to the executive, Dr. Weizmann “emphatically denies the suggestion emanating from Arab sources, alleging his agreement to the suspension of immigration pending the commission’s findings.”
“Such a suspension,” the statement points out, “would be regarded as a breach of faith and seriously prejudicial to the work of the Royal Commission.”
