Negotiations for the release of the Egyptian vessel Samir now held by Israel, took place at a meeting of the Israel-Egyptian Mixed Armistice Commission, it was announced here by a military spokesman.
The Beirut radio announced today that Lebanon will seek from the Israel Government compensation for a Lebanese vessel which sank off Raselnaqura in a gale as it was being towed by a police boat to Lebanese waters where it was to be left. The 53-ton vessel, “Naamat Karim,” was being returned to Lebanese authorities after the Israel Government had seized her on grounds that the vessel had violated Israeli territorial waters.
