Yuli Tartakowsky, a Soviet Jewish activist and his mother, Esther, have been given permission to leave the Soviet Union and are expected to depart by Feb. 3, it was reported today by the National Conference on Soviet Jewry and the Student struggle for Soviet Jewry. Tartakowsky, who was one of the main organizers of the Babi-Yar demonstrations, and his mother, have been seeking exit visas for 2 1/2 years. Tartakowsky was under intense pressure from Soviet authorities and recently was in hiding, the SSSJ reported.
