Louis I. Pincus, chairman of the Jewish Agency, said here last night that the tasks facing Israel could not be achieved by Israel alone but only in cooperation with world Jewry. Pincus, who was guest of honor at the Keren Hayesod-United Israel Appeal dinner, stressed that the military situation required Israel to be in a constant state of preparation for war. Israel, he stated, faced not only the Arab armies but also Soviet troops in Egypt. “If another war breaks out, no Jew in the world will be able to say, We did not know.” Pincus said, Israel’s former Premier, David Ben-Gurion, who was scheduled to address the dinner, was confined to bed with bronchitis. His address was read by Israel’s Ambassador, Moshe Allon. In it, Ben-Gurion urged increased emigration to Israel and support by world Jewry.
