Five hundred students of the Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Berlin, 1899 Prospect place, Brooklyn, which was closed for eight days because of a strike by its twelve teachers, were back at their studies yesterday as the result of a temporary agreement reached between the staff and the school’s administration.
Although it was understood that “no definite agreement has been reached as yet,” the teachers reported to work in the morning. A meeting was held last night between the teachers and the board of directors, to work out a permanent solution.
The teachers walked out last Monday because the Yeshiva failed to pay their salaries for the past six weeks. The administration declared it had no funds, pointing out that sixty-five per cent of the students cannot pay tuition fees.
The parochial school issued a call for donations last night to help the institution out of its present predicament, which may be sent to the Yeshiva office.
